Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:
On 10/30/17, at approximately 5:56 PM, the Westborough Police and Fire Departments responded to Lyman Street at the entrance to Burger King for a two car accident.
The arriving units determined there were no injuries. The first vehicle was a 2016 Nissan Sentra being operated by Derek M. Baker age 28 of 55 Diana Dr. Marlborough. The second vehicle was a 2007 Ford Escape being operated by Edward Mahoney age 54 of 7 Canfield Dr. Westborough. Both vehicles sustained extensive front end damage and had to be towed from the scene.
The investigation revealed that the Baker vehicle was traveling north on Lyman St. The Mahoney vehicle was traveling south on Lyman St. and attempted to enter Burger King. The Mahoney vehicle struck the front of the Baker vehicle. Mahoney was placed under arrest by Off. Dean Paine for DUI alcohol, operating so as to endanger and improper turning. His breathalyzer result was over 3 times the legal limit.
Mahoney will be arraigned in WDC Tuesday.
