Westborough – Police Chief Alan Gordon released this statement this morning:

On October 24th, at approximately 12:14 PM, the Westborough Police Department responded to Walker Street for a reported breaking and entering into a residence.

The homeowner who was reporting the crime had observed a white male parked in front of her residence. She took a picture of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving. The plate on the vehicle was not listed to that vehicle.

Through an investigation by Dets. Gary Hassett and Steven Tompkins and in cooperation with the Chelmsford and Lowell Police Departments, they was able to identify the vehicle that was being used. The vehicle turned out to be a stolen vehicle with license plates on it that had been stolen from another vehicle in Lowell.

An alert Chelmsford Officer observed the vehicle being operated in their community. The suspect in the vehicle was taken into custody. His picture that was taken by the Westborough resident matched this person. Also, items that were taken from the Westborough break were recovered from inside the stolen vehicle.

The suspect has been identified as Edward J. Flynn, age 54 of 566 Mass Ave, Boston. Through other items found in the stolen vehicle, Flynn will be tied to a number of additional breaks throughout the area. He will be arraigned at the Westborough District Court at a later date for breaking and entering daytime, larceny over $250 and malicious destruction of property.
