
Westborough – The Westborough Public Library will present a concert by the trio Solstice Sackbuts Wednesday, July 17, at 7 p.m. as part of the Groundbreaking Reads adult summer reading program. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Westborough Public Library.
Solstice Sackbuts, a brass chamber trio, will be performing a program entitled, “The Modern Sackbut,” which features contemporary music and highlights the works of living composers. The trio members are: Leslie Havens, who plays bass and alto trombones, is a member of many groups, including the Diva Jazz Orchestra and Quintessential Brass, and has performed with Aretha Franklin, Paul Anka, and the Artie Shaw Orchestra; Alan Johnson, who plays soprano and tenor trombones, studied trombone performance at the University of Michigan, and has performed with Quintessential Brass and Symphony Pro Musica; and David Lindsey, who plays tenor and alto trombones, has toured with Buddy Rich, and is a member of Quintessential Brass and several other bands.
