Westborough – A New Hampshire man has been found guilty of first degree murder in the 2012 death of a Westborough woman, Elizabeth “Lizzi” Marriott.
Seth Mazzaglia, 31, of Dover, was charged with first-degree murder and other felonies in the Oct. 9, 2012 death of Marriott, who was a student at the University of New Hampshire at the time.
A jury also charged Mazzaglia with charges of conspiracy to commit tampering with witnesses and informants and conspiracy to commit falsifying physical evidence.
During the trial, jurors heard from Mazzaglia’s ex-girlfriend, Katherine “Kat” McDonough, who testified against Mazzaglia. Authorities said McDonough coerced Marriott into coming to Mazzaglia’s apartment the night of October 9 and that they killed Marriott after she rebuffed Mazzaglia’s sexual advances. They then disposed of her body into the waters off of Peirce Island in Portsmouth, N.H. Marriott’s body has never been found.
McDonough is serving 1-1/2 to 3 years for witness tampering, hindering prosecution and conspiracy.
Mazzaglia is due to be sentenced at a later date.
