Westborough – The Elsie A. Hastings Elementary School will be able to fund several programs and purchase some needed items for the next school year, thanks to the owners of a local McDonald’s franchise, Lori and Joe Ruscito.
The restaurant, located at 166 E. Main St., hosted a fundraiser for the school April 29. Dubbed “McTeachers’ Night,” it featured teachers and administrators from the school serving as McDonald’s staff. For these events, the restaurant donates a portion of the proceeds back to the school.
Lori Ruscito presented a check for $750 to Leigh Becker, the school’s principal, June 13.
“It’s really important for us to give back to the communities we are in,” Ruscito said. “We want people to know that we are not just here as a restaurant. We want to offer support as well.”
Becker thanked Ruscito for the couple’s generosity.
“This will help the Parents Group Council fund field trips, enrichment programs and technical things, like interactive white boards,” she said. “It will also help purchase some basic things that we don’t have a budget for, like much-needed folding chairs.”
“And it was great event to participate in,” she noted. “The teachers loved doing it. It was so much fun and a nice community event.”
Ruscito said if anyone would like information about holding a fundraising event, they may contact her at 978-928-5839 or email lori.ruscito@partners.med.com.
