Westborough has plenty of beautiful trails for walking and/or hiking. The “Charm Bracelet” trail system has approximately 21 miles of trails including road walking and sidewalks that are open to the public, according to its website, www.westboroughcharm.org.

2. Enjoy a lake and a pond.

When you find yourself needing a little “aquatic therapy” but don’t have the time or desire to drive to the beach, consider a visit to either Lake Chauncy or the Minuteman Park/Sandra Pond Reservoir.

Located off of Lyman Street the beautiful Lake Chauncy is a great place to spend some time fishing, swimming, picnicking or just enjoying the chance to kick off your shoes and relax.

The Minuteman Park/Sandra Pond Reservoir, located on Upton Road, is another great place for hiking, fishing or walking your dog. The 144 acres of conservation land surrounds the reservoir which serves as the town’s water supply. And, according to the Westborough Community Land Trust, the park is home to over 80 varieties of wildflowers.

For more information visit http://www.town.westborough.ma.us. Click “Recreation” under “Departments,” then “Facilities.”

3.  Visit Veterans Freedom Park.

Located at 169A W. Main St., this 22-acre park is a popular place for runners and dog walkers. (Please just remember to clean up after your pooch!) It also has a tennis court and access to Mill Pond.

4. Go back in time.

The Westborough Historical Society often hosts open houses at its headquarters, the Sibley House, 13 Parkman St. They also host special seminars and lectures throughout the year at the Westborough Public Library.

The library also has fantastic historical resources including the Westborough Room, which has a collection records, town reports, genealogy publications, maps, photographs and other materials of local historical and genealogical interest. You can also access databases online by visiting http://www.westboroughlib.org/Pages

5. Shop small – and local!

Westborough’s downtown has an eclectic mix of small shops featuring arts, crafts, clothes and much more. You can park in one of the many spots on the street or the municipal lot located behind the Community Advocate’s 32 South St. offices. And if you are thirsty or hungry, there are plenty of options for you to choose from, whether you just want a cup of coffee, a sandwich or a specific cuisine like Italian or Japanese.
