Westborough – On April 15, Avidia Bank and Westborough TV, Inc., announced the sale of the Avidia Bank Building at 33 W. Main St. to Westborough TV.

Avidia Bank has offered personal and business banking services at the West Main Street location for over six years, having acquired the property after the successful merger between Hudson Savings Bank and Westborough Bank in 2007. Avidia Bank recently consolidated their two Westborough operations into a single full service branch located at 100 E. Main St.

When considering the sale of the beautiful and historic West Main Street location, the Avidia Bank Board of Directors felt strongly that they preferred the building transition to a local Westborough organization.

“We wanted to demonstrate our commitment to our customers and to the community of Westborough by leaving the building in the hands of a strong local institution that we knew would be a good steward of the building. This partnership with Westborough TV was a perfect solution. They plan to preserve and maintain the historic nature of the beautiful Avidia Bank building,” said Mark O’Connell president of Avidia Bank.

Westborough TV offers local public, educational and government programming by, for and about Westborough residents.

“Our public access cable television production is at the heart of our town, weaving stories through programming that showcase and celebrate the people and events that make up the fabric of our community here in Westborough,” said Karen Henderson, general manager of Westborough TV.

According to Bill Linnane, president of the Board of Westborough TV, the new site will be a positive change.

“The Avidia Bank Building in downtown Westborough is the perfect location for Westborough TV. We will now be a visible and accessible part of the community within walking distance to many of our strategic partners including businesses, town government and the schools. We are extremely grateful to Avidia Bank for offering us the opportunity to own the Avidia Bank building downtown and to help secure the future of television and media coverage of local events and people in the Westborough community.”
