REGION – With the region bracing for a snowstorm that could leave a foot or more of snow, some communities are already preparing for delays or cancellations.
In Grafton, E.L. Harvey will not be collecting on Tuesday, Feb. 13. There will be a one-day delay for the rest of the week, and they will be working on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Marlborough has also decided to hold off on picking up trash and recycling on Tuesday. Pickup has been postponed until Wednesday.
Curbside trash collection in Hudson will be delayed a day because of the storm. Tuesday’s collection will take place on Wednesday; Wednesday’s on Thursday; Thursday’s to Friday; and Friday’s to Saturday. Please note that bins need to be kept OFF the streets to allow for plow drivers to properly clear streets.
In Northborough, the Senior Center, library and town offices will be closed on Tuesday. Staff will be available by phone and email through the day. There will be no trash/recycling collection on Tuesday. All routes will be collected one day later for the remainder of the week.
In Shrewsbury, there will be no trash collection on Tuesday. Collection will resume on Wednesday and continue through Sunday. Make sure your materials are at the curb, free of snow and not behind snow banks.
The transfer station in Westborough will be closed on Tuesday. It is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday for regular operating hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Westborough Select Board will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 13, by remote means.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region from 1 a.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. The bulk of the storm is forecast for early Tuesday morning to about mid-afternoon.
Current forecast snowfall totals range from 8 to 12 inches.
There could also be wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour.
