REGION – The Westborough Fire Department reported that a tree knocked down an electrical wire at West Main Street, between Kay and Adams streets. National Grid is working to fix the damage; expect traffic delays.
Grafton Police also reported a wire down at North Street between Old Westborough and Bicknell roads.
Both National Grid and Eversource said there were scattered outages through the region as of 10 a.m. Friday.
Outages have been reported near Route 30 between Jasper and Glen streets, as well as Breen Road and Adams Street in Westborough, at Stonegate Circle and off Old Westborough and Pigeon Hill roads in Grafton; off Middle Road in Southborough; and at Spoonhill Avenue, Wilson Street and Pine Hill Road in Marlborough.
Assabet Valley Vocational Technical High School canceled classes for the day.
Westborough Public Library will be open until 5 p.m. for those whose power was knocked out, and need a place to work or charge their devices.
Rain is expected to taper off later this morning, while the wind is forecast to shift from southeast to southwest this afternoon. Temperatures will drop from the 50s through the 40s as a cold front advances.
Lows tonight will be in the teens. The forecast for Christmas Eve will be sunny with highs in the 20s.
