WESTBOROUGH – Drivers who use Milk Street in Westborough will see construction crews in the area over the next several weeks.
The work is part of a project involving the town and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to relocate an existing crosswalk at the Westmeadow Plaza, near where Milk Street intersects with Route 9.
The town shared a notice from the state Department of Transportation on Thursday regarding this work. Department of Public Works Director Chris Payant then shared additional information in comments to the Community Advocate.
The crosswalk will be moved by roughly 300 feet to the intersection of Milk Street and Meadow Road, according to Payant.
“It’ll be in a better location,” he said, noting current conditions with drivers turning out of the plaza or driving toward Route 9.
Construction work is scheduled to begin next week, pending weather, taking place on Milk Street between the Westmeadow Plaza and Meadow Road.
The work is estimated to last about two weeks.
Payant said that Milk Street will be open during construction, though drivers may notice police details.
Pedestrians also may not have use of the sidewalks in the area during construction.
