Westborough – Leigh Emery, a longtime member of Westborough’s Board of Selectmen, announced in December that she was stepping down from her position immediately, due to illness. As a result, there will be a one-year term on the annual town election ballot this March to fill this vacancy.
During her stint as selectman, Emery served passionately as a liaison to many committees, including one that was of particular interest to her, Sustainable Westborough. This committee seeks to promote environmental responsibility and energy efficiency in the town.
Emery retired after 30 years as a nurse at UMass Medical School in 2012. Her family also owns Emery Family Farm.
