Westborough – Holiday shopping officially began for many residents and visitors before the snowfall Dec. 1 when Westborough Recreation and Westborough Economic Development Committee presented the fifth annual Winter Stroll (formerly known as Holiday Stroll). Concern for safety due to inclement weather canceled the light parade and the Rotary Club of Westborough’s long-running tree lighting at the rotary with Santa visits.
New this year, the stroll’s shopping locations expanded geographically throughout the town with shuttle buses sponsored by realtor Gary Kelly. Businesses offered refreshments, activities and discounts. Among the bus stops was Town Hall, where strollers met representatives from Westborough’s Garden Club, Women’s Club, and Youth and Family Services.
Meanwhile at the public library, kids created seasonal crafts and parents joined their children for mini-classes offered by New England Music Academy. Nearby, Westborough TV invited strollers inside its studio for video karaoke caroling.
