Westborough – On a sunny and seasonably brisk Nov. 23, over 900 runners and walkers participated in the sixth annual Westborough Turkey Trot, beginning and ending at Westborough High School (WHS). A subcommittee of Westborough Education Foundation, the Turkey Trot raises funds to support the town’s public schools’ initiatives not covered by the annual budget.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, participants were encouraged to bring nonperishable items for the Westborough Food Pantry. Before “trotters” took their marks, the WHS a cappella group known as Double Take sang the national anthem.

Isaac Grosner of Westborough finished first overall in 16:37. Madeline Reinach was the first-place female finishing in 21.25.0. Finishing soon after her in 21.25.9 was Polina Bozhikova. Madeline and Polina are both WHS juniors and cross-country teammates. Following the 5K race, children ages 3 to 11 enjoyed a Kids Fun Run organized by The Potential-U.
