Veterans stand at attention at the ceremony held at the FMB.

Westborough – Local officials, as well as many residents, gathered to pay respect to the town’s veterans on Nov. 11. Ceremonies were held at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Vietnam Memorial on Ruggles Street, in front of the war memorials in front of the Forbes Memorial Building (FMB) and in front of the World War 1 Memorial located at the rotary.
The WHS Barbershop Quartet, Perfect Fourths (Jesse Scheinbart, Christopher LaMountain, Varun Shankavaram and Joel Reske), sang the National Anthem in the ceremony at the FMB.
The VFW Post 9013 Honor Guard fired three volleys of rifle fire at each site and were followed by Westborough High School (WHS) students/buglers Nick Schurr and Kerry Larkin playing “Taps.”
Douglas Sulham, who served with the Coast Guard and is currently in the Coast Guard Reserves, served as the day’s grand marshal. He was presented with a handmade quilt from Beverly Linnane which was made by local members of the Schoolhouse Quilters on behalf of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, a national organization that has provided over 90,000 hand-crafted quilts to veterans.
Kenneth Ferrera, the town’s assistant veterans services officer, served as Master of Ceremonies.
