Westborough – Residents and visitors of all ages got a head start celebrating summertime’s holiday June 28 by attending the annual Westborough July 4th Block Party at the Bay State Green.
A number of community organizations and local businesses provided games and giveaways. Among the family-friendly activities were a bounce house, dunk tank, sand art, face painting, airbrush tattoos, photo booth, pony and horse-drawn carriage rides. Appetites were satisfied by food and dessert trucks.
Live musical entertainment began with patriotic songs performed by the Westborough Community Band conducted by Matthew Lefebvre. Choir vocalists of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish sang the national anthem. The Reminisants with lead singer Mike Royal of Marlborough returned to the party with a repertoire of classic rock tunes.
The four-hour holiday kickoff was organized by the Westborough July 4th Planning Committee consisting of Westborough Recreation representatives and Westborough Civic Club members.
