Westborough – There is no doubt that Congregation B’nai Shalom is an integral part of the town of Westborough. This year, the congregation celebrated 40 years together, holding events and working to document their rich history. The beautiful temple was first built in 1985, but additions have been made to help the building grow with its membership and role in the community.
On May 19, the congregation hosted a free event for their congregation and the community.
“We have about 450 families and 350 children in our religious school in K – 12. We draw from about 20 different communities in the area,” explained Steve Winer, event coordinator. “We’ve been a part of the community for a long time, and this is a chance for us to say ‘thank you.’”
A day full of music, bouncy houses and vendors filled the lawn with joy and embodied the spirit that is B’nai Shalom. Families lined up to buy treats from Yummy Mummy, Chubby Chickpea, Stonefire Pizza and Uhlman’s Ice Cream.
The temple shares its beautiful space with a number of organizations, including the Point and Swing Jazz Band, who came out to celebrate on Sunday. The day concluded with a performance by “Old Soul” an indie rock band with members in the congregation.
“We just want people to have fun, and know that we love being a part of the community,” noted congregation member Cheryl Casof.
