Westborough – Candidates for elective office in the town of Westborough will take part in a Candidates Forum sponsored by the Westborough Democratic Town Committee. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. at the Willows at 1 Lyman Street. Candidates for Selectman, Planning Board, School Committee, Trustees of Library and Housing Authority have all been invited to participate. The election will take place on Tuesday, March 5.
“This is a great opportunity to hear from those candidates seeking your vote in March and to ask questions of the candidates,” commented Kate Donaghue, chair of the sponsoring group. “We very much appreciate the citizens who serve the town so generously and who take the time meet with voters at Candidates Forum.”
The Westborough Democratic Town Committee sponsors this event every year as a service to the town and to encourage voters to become participants in the election process.
“Democracy is not a spectator sport,” noted Donaghue.
Leigh Emery, Bruce Tretter and Alan Falcon Edinberg are running for two positions on the Board of Selectmen. Mark Silverberg is the only candidate for Planning Board. Steve Doret and Sara Dullea are candidates for two positions on School Committee. Kate Daly, Mary Ellen Johnston and Ed Baldwin are candidates for three positions for Trustees for the Public Library.
There are two vacancies for positions on the Westborough Housing Authority. No candidates returned nomination papers for these two positions. Candidates interested in running write-in campaigns for either of the Housing Authority positions are invited to take part in this forum and should contact Donaghue at KateDonaghue@aol.com if interested in participating.
