Westborough – Jillian Hensley, author of the historical fiction novel, “In This Strange Soil,” will be the featured guest speaker at the next Westborough Women’s Club luncheon meeting on Tuesday, February 12, 12 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 17 Willow Street.
In the introduction of Hensley’s book, she notes when she first came to her new Westborough home in 1979, she discovered a plaque on a rock outside the high school entrance that commemorated the abduction of four Rice family members by Mohawk Indians in August 1704. When she discovered the captives were children, she was determined to find out more about them. Hensley’s 30 years of research and her imagination produced the novel, “In This Strange Soil”.
Superintendent of Schools Amber Bock will conclude the luncheon meeting with a brief informational presentation.
This month donations for the Westborough Senior Center are welcomed and appreciated.
Suggestions include books of stamps, boxes of greeting cards, notepaper, towels for kitchen and bathrooms, and gift cards (especially to a grocery store).
